digital
Use our password-protected digital spaces to post something real, like a question, an idea, or a glimpse of what you’re working through. It doesn’t need to be polished. It just needs to be yours. Use online resources and others' posts as inspiration, not a script. Your digital posts will help shape our live discussion, contribute to our shared learning archive, and will be visible to families and teachers, as well as current and future students.
In class, we’ll build on these ideas together through sharing, listening, and developing group explanations for complex science phenomena. Your participation in this conversation will be important for receiving credit for class and for expanding the way you see yourself and the world—here are some things that might help. If you're absent, you will be excused from the live discussion, but you will still need to contribute your ideas thoughtfully on our digital pages and complete a self-evaluation of your work.

You’ll regularly use the criteria below to reflect on your growth and engagement. While we'll assess your learning in a variety ways, these criteria focus on the core elements that will shape our work—your thoughts, experiences, feelings, and questions.

At the end of each section, you will evaluate your own work using the rubric provided. Brandon will also assess your work. If your score and Brandon’s score differ significantly, you will discuss the difference together to agree on a fair grade for that section. Occasionally, multiple-choice quizzes will be given to check your understanding. These quizzes can be retaken throughout the quarter to improve your score. Each class will start with analyzing a piece of media related to the day’s topic. If you arrive late (unexcused) and miss this activity, you will not have a chance to make it up.

Here is a link to New Meridian's Cell Phone Policy which all teachers will be enforcing throughout the quarter. This policy is meant to help you.
